TRAVERSE rucksack

Fully handcrafted and built to last - the Traverse rucksack is an ultra-rugged, go-anywhere adventure bag for hiking, backpacking, and other escapades.

Modern technical design meets heritage materials and construction. These backpacks are built using heavy-duty waxed cotton canvas and beautiful full-grain harness leather.

•25-35L capacity with an expanding roll-top closure - the rolled opening attaches securely to the front panel using two metal hooks -or- if easy access is more important than security, the top flap can fold over and hook on the bag's sides.

•Full-length zipper in front - for easy packing and quick access to the bottom of your kit.

•Soft cushioned back panel, with a semi-rigid internal frame, and a removable aluminum support which can be hand-bent to better fit your spine.

•Two large drop pockets on the inside, two exterior side pockets, and two narrow/flat pockets in front.

•The strapping is made using durable seatbelt webbing, and all contact points are thoroughly reinforced.

•Includes three accessory straps with extra hardware, they can be configured in a variety of ways: sternum support, top/bottom gear tie-down, shoulder strap stabilizer, waist support, etc.

•Dual-purpose compression/stow straps on the sides, and lash points all around for countless attachment possibilities.

•The bottom panel is fitted with two hiking pole mounts, lash panels on the underside, and a waist support sleeve.

•The waist support sleeve can be used with a regular belt -or- with the optional harness/slingbag. The slingbag option is a two-in-one convertible attachment that is compatible with the Traverse and Nomad Rucksacks. It acts as an effective waist support with comfortable padding where it counts, and it can also be used as a standalone sling bag for when it's time to ditch your pack.

The backpacking life is a unique challenge; sometimes you're bivying in the mountains, riding the train, and ordering lattes all on the same day! Versatility is truly fundamental, so when I set out to design the ultimate travel bag, the goals were clear: It would need to be seriously capable in the wild, but equally practical in a cafe or airport. The materials ought to be robust and durable, but they've also got to clean up nicely when it's time to blend in. It would have to be practical and modern, with all the features we've come to expect, but not too techie (yuck!). The Traverse is designed to go hard and make it look easy.

The waxed cotton duck canvas has a soft feel in the hands, yet is an extremely rugged material that ages beautifully. The wax treatment adds rigidity and protection from the elements, and it also gives this textile its signature old-world look. It can be re-treated with wax over and over again for maximum service life. Every hide is different, and each one will have its own signature look; range markings, scars, and wrinkles give each piece a unique character. The color examples were photographed under natural light, and they're a good representation of how the materials appear in person, but some variation is always to be expected. With regular exposure to dirt and everyday life, the materials will darken and take on a rich character.
